CW's new shows
Oct. 10th, 2007 10:54 amSo, as you know, I'm kinda interested in TV shows ratings. They are a very interesting thing. There are shows that everybody and their aunt think will be a hit and they are a flop in the end. And some other series were doomed from the very beginning and they end up being the best thing since sliced bread for the network.
For example last year, everybody considered Ugly Betty to be a hit. Millions and millions of viewers, awards and stuff... And this year? Suddenly the TV critics say that UB maybe isn't such a hit after all...
But why I'm talking about it... The CW gave green light to Gossip Girl. The show will receive a full (22 eps) season. I say, good for the fans and I'm happy for them. But! This show's ratings? 2.80 mil. viewers. The week before that only 2.55 mil. Even One Tree Hill had better ratings in its 3rd? 4th? season. Obviously, the CW puts a lot of faith into this series. We will see how it goes.
Now I have no doubt that Reaper will receive a full season too. The premiere rated 3.28 mil. viewers, in the second week, it was only 2.81 mil. That's almost a half of a million drop. But it still does better than Gossip Girl so there is no doubt that it will get 22 eps. I don't like this show at all (sorry, I like intelligent humor) so this leaves me rather cold but again, I'm happy for its fans.
In the afternoon, I'm off to Germany on a business trip to the Book-fair in Frankfurt am Main with my boss. I'll be back on Friday, sometime in the afternoon. At least the waiting for the new ep of my beloved show won't be so long :)
