Psych and Reaper
Jul. 29th, 2007 04:10 pmSo, I finally sat down and watched the pre-aired pilot. I tried to be objective because should they cancel Supernatural after S3, I will need a new show to love and devote my time to.
Unfortunately, it won't be Reaper...
First of all, you have to know that it's not a bad show. But it's not good either. It's like some of the songs that you hear on the radio. There is nothing remarkable about them and you forget them as soon as they end. It's... bland, for the lack of words.
The main hero, Sam, is dumb. He is a moron as it was stated over and over again throughout the show. And he has dumb, vulgar friends. I mean, it's Kevin Smith, of course the show will be vulgar but I hoped that it won't be that bad. I don't understand what's so funny about someone behaving like a pig. But whatever.
And since we are talking about funny... The blood smeared all over the ice? I'm not sure that can be considered funny. It's tasteless. But that's Kevin Smith keeping up to his standards.
The parents... I know that this was just episode one but they still felt two-dimensional and their dialogs simply exaggerated.
The girls... I know that Nikki Reed was replaced later on but it's not about the actress, it's about the part itself. It felt like Spiderman's girlfriend, you know? Like she is there simply to look pretty and play dumb. The actress who played Original Cindy on Dark Angel was better but still not very likable.
And that brings me back to Sam, the main hero. I mean, he can't even research old newspapers on his own? That's a bit exaggerated, I think.
And the Devil. Ray Wise is na excellent actor and the only good thing in this TV show. He was amazing in Twin Peaks and his maniacal grin gives me the creeps. But even his part feels... I don't know... not really alive?
So yeah, that's my opinion of this series. And the end result? I won't follow this show. It's just not interesting enough.
Shawn was much more serious in this episode and I think that we got a glimpse of what he would be like if he was really pissed.
Although I think that it was pretty obvious from the get-go that the female psychic was guilty, it was still a good episode. But more for character development than anything else. It forced Shawn to move his ass and really work and not just rely on what he sees.
Lou Diamond Phillips was awesome! He does comedy so well. I'm amazed that he could spout such a nonsense with a straight face. That was like so cool. And of course, I have to agree with Juliet: He is so hot! *swoons*
Way to go, Henry. Every time you open your mouth, you put Shawn down. I think he might have used his little speech as a reverse psychology but I bet that it still hurt Shawn like Hell. I mean, to know that your father thinks that you're a loser...
Gus is a walking encyclopedia of strange facts :D And he and Shawn rock!
