Of Eric Kripke and fans meeting the J2
Jul. 22nd, 2007 01:39 pmStill staying away from spoilers but I did decide to read this interview with Erick Kripke because even though I decided to keep my mind open, I needed some reassurance.
Sorry, but I would take the girl-next-door and how-can-I-help-you attitude over the raging-pain-in-the-ass-ness he wants these girls to be any day. Why? The helpful little sister wouldn't make the boys look like total dumb-fucks.
So, I'm sorry, but I'm still not impressed... I hate female characters that have to prove to everybody on spot how tough and smart and kick-ass they are - which sounds like the perfect portrayal of Ruby and Bela. I hated Meg even before we knew that she was evil. But I adored Andrea and Sarah. I think you get my point. In the light of this revelation, Jo's character is looking more and more lovable with every passing second :(
And another thing that bothers me - the girls won't be in every episode, which is just fine with me. But obviously, they won't pop up together. So, if they will be in 12 eps out of the 22 tops but not in every ep together... That means that either there will be the one or the other. Just great X( I'm not sure if this is any reassurance at all...
But I will try and stay positive. It's the Winchester brothers after all!
And there are some awesome reports from fans who met the J2 while they were filming the premiere of S3. There are minor spoilers for the premiere in there, so beware!
Chichiri_no_da's report, Miko_no_da's report and Blue_soaring's report. The boys are awesome!

Date: 2007-07-22 05:19 pm (UTC)I guess the problem with the Jo character was that she was the girl next door trying to be tough, and not being the girl next door.
Andrea is still one of my favorite characters but I understand Kripke trying to expand the hunters world. I totally agree with you on the fear of them, in their hurry to make the girls tough, make the boys dumb. It can happen, it happened in many shows before.
What I'd like to see is them interacting - like in 3 episodes out of 22 - with someone who's innocent, who doesn't know that monsters are real. They'd have to try and keep the friendship while hiding this side of their lives from the person.

Date: 2007-07-22 05:30 pm (UTC)I am not really feeling this Ruby character. (I think it has more to do with her casting than anything though). But I am really looking forward to Bela. I will give both of them a chance though, and see how I feel about them. I only hope they aren't as bad as Jo was when we first met her. That would just be horrible.
