Of spoilers and bad fics

katikatIn my eternal illogical wisdom, I finally decided what's an acceptable spoiler and what's not for me. General spoilers (ie. who will appear in the show and in how many eps etc.) are just fine. Episode-specific spoilers? A big NONO. First script pages for ep 3x01 are popping up on the net and you know what? I'm not even tempted to click on the spoiler link. Go me! *g*
But it's a fact that when you avoid spoilers, you miss a big part of fandom interaction. True, you may enjoy the eps more but you miss the discussion and the overall craziness of your fellow fans... A real dilemma :D
What really surprises me is the sheer amount of bad mpreg fics in the Supernatural fandom. I mean, I used to write mpreg stories. I wrote a lot of them. My "Lifebearers and Sires" is over 100 000 words, so I do know what I'm talking about. If you want your story to succeed, you have to explain how it came to be that a man got pregnant, be it magic or science, but the explanation has to be there. I hate stories that simply state that the man is preggie and that's it. That's very very bad!
And what irks me too are the requests for "smart XY" stories. Usually, it's "smart Dean". But that inevitably means that this character is considered dumb. Dean is not dumb. He managed to build an EMF meter from scratch and he rebuilt the Impala after the accident. Sure, he has no appreciation for art but neither do I. I have two University degrees and I wouldn't be able to tell Van Gogh and Picasso apart, so yeah X(

How crazy is that? My favorite ep was the one where the bomb exploded in the Babylon club. So cute... I know, I'm weird :P
