What the heck?!

So, is LJ deleting accounts and communities with content they label inappropriate or not? Some people say that it's true, other people say it's total crap. And the result? Panic on all sides... I really don't like this. It reminds me of the time when Yahoo Groups was deleting mailing lists with content they labeled dubious. This makes me really uncomfortable... And of course, no statement from the LJ team itself. Why doesn't that surprise me? *snorts*

Someone did write to LJ Abuse about their comm being deleted. They were told that there was a specific complaint about it. I think a lot of people are panicking needlessly right now.

I hope so too. But on the other hand, I heard that there was a specific community that took it upon itself to "purge" LJ of all the vile things and they are literally looking for "dubious" comms and LJ and reporting them.

LJ for example deleted a comm called lolita9 or something like that - but it was a comm that served the discussion of the book Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov! O.O

So it's obvious that they don't even try to investigate what they are deleting. And that's what scares me the most. I mean, with all due respect, Americans are not exactly famous for their tolerance, so I fear what will come next :(

As I said to suzvoy, I'm happy that there isn't a comm like that... but someone DID report these people... and it would be a real coincidence if it wasn't one user or a group of users since it's happening at once, in the span of hours...

I'm really glad then :) On the other hand, one dude with a flaming sword of justice is usually enough... I see it in the Supernatural fandom. I know that incest fics are not everybody's cup of tea but there are discurssions in open comms of how perverse it is and how perverse the authors are... So, yeah.

Yeah, okay - seems stuff went down while I was sleeping *g*. Just checked my flist, and it's a group from a particular website who are trying to get certain things deleted from LJ. I'm gonna compose a LJ entry about it, but for now here's a link about it:

Fairly up to date and its like YouTube (if you've ever used it before)

It pops up a screen and plays the episode (though not all episodes of a particular show may be available)

All the shows appear to be English Language though
