katikatLaura Baumbach's book "Out There In The Night" is available in the paperback or in the ebook form. I've read the ebook version and I must say that for an ebook, it was excellent. Probably the best ebook I've read so far.
This book is set in Alaska (if I remember it right) and the main heroes are Connor and Greg who are lovers but mostly good friends and they are looking for someone they could love. They are doctors in a small Alaskan town and one day, after a snowmobile accident, a Skinwalker rescues Connor and makes him his mate. In the meantime, Greg, all worried about Connor, joins the search-party that is trying to find Connor - and finds the love of his life in Mitch, his Native American guide.
This practically sums up the book. It's quite short, that's why I got the ebook version and not the print version (12 bucks for 136 pages is a bit too much, I think). But even though the book is mostly about sex, it has one great point: the description of the Alaskan Indians' life. Laura Baumbach did her job there. Their traditions are superbly described and you can fairly feel the cold wind on your face and hear the drums. The atmosphere of this book is just perfect.
As I said, this book is mostly sex. Man on man, werewolf on man, werewolf on werewolf, a teeny weeny bit of wolf on man - well, Adam is a werewolf, so yeah. I didn't expect much of this book since I know what ebooks usually read like - like a mediocre fanfiction - but I bought it because of the werewolves and I expected there to be some unusual sex stuff. I didn't mind it but if you are of the sensitive sort who doesn't like to see a human and a furry going at it, skip this one.
So, all in all, as an ebook, I would rate it five stars out of five. The printed version, well... As I said, it's too short for this price and since I didn't buy the paperback, I can't tell you if I would have felt cheated or not. This book had the potential to be longer and more in-depth, but I hope that there will be more about Connor and Adam or Greg and Mitch (after all, Greg doesn't know all about his sexy guide :P). So, if you are curious but not so sure about it, try the ebook form. It's half the price and no shipping costs there :))
