Black Lagoon owns me, really! :)
Nov. 30th, 2006 11:27 amBlack Lagoon is getting better and better. At least in my opinion. I know that there aren't many team-related episodes in this season and that it's mostly about Revy and Rock, but it's fantastic. And there is even some character development. I love the fact that Revy is starting to admit that she likes Rock. In the previous season, she considered Rock just a burden. But now, I liked that she was proud of Rock surviving so long without actually killing someone, even being a member of their mercenary company. I think that for her, he is this bright ray of light. He makes her believe that there really is innocence in the world.
And the latest arc. Wow! I love how they slowly build up the tension towards a grand finale. I think this one will last until the end of this season. Balalaika is really ruthless. And I like that about her. She kills anyone who gets in her way. And even though she likes Rock, she wouldn't even blink if she had to get rid of him. That's kinda cool - in a twisted way. Revy playing Rock's bodyguard and defending him, so sweet. But I have a bad feeling about how this arc will end. Either Rock kills the girl or the girl kills Rock - I think that was the darkness he talked about.
Fantastic stuff!

There's definitely more respect there and I guess in a way Revy admires Rock a little for surviving in 'her' world. I'm surprised that she actually encouraged Rock to meet his family because she might not want him to become a ruthless criminal like herself.
There still is the slim chance for him to leave his live with the mercenaries behind and take up his old way of living. That will be the most interesting decision he will be faced with, I guess. Beacuse, as you say, he will have to face this Yakuza girl and then he might be forced to take a side. She was in a similar decision and already decided to become her groups successor as a boss and that puts her in direct opposition to Balalaika's plans.
Woah, there really is a lot of tension in these episodes. I hope that there will be some kind of solution that doesn't end with Rock between all chairs or even worse with him getting killed. That would be really sad. But then again Revy is still around and apparently prepared to defend her team member. Can't wait to see how the story continues...
