I use my account all the time. I pay $99/year for 300GB. It's more than I'll use in a year, but it's great for me to share things with other people. It's also a good place to keep backups of all my files. I even keep all the fanart I've downloaded backed up there, not just my anime.
There are sites online for people to share files (anime and manga) through Streamload. That's how I've gotten a lot of older series.
I'd suggest starting with a month-to-month plan, rather than paying for a whole year. See if you actually use it enough to keep it.
