It's your usual hostage movie. The US president's daughter is taken hostage in a prison facility. One guy is sent in to rescue her. The twist? The prison is on a space station in Earth's orbit, a real fortress that's slowly falling down into the atmosphere after a collision with the international space station. The special effects are fantastic and the action pretty swift.
Neither Emilie or Snow are exactly likable at first but as you slowly get to know them, you get to understand the why behind their actions and they both end up being fantastically kick-ass. My favorite scene was, hands down, the moment when the prisoners were trying to force Emilie to convince her father to let them go, threatening to shoot her - and instead, she told her father over the radio to just blow them out of the sky because no hostage was getting out of there alive anyway. That was awesome, her coldly furious glare into the leader's eyes while she said that. Wow! Amazing.
