The CW has just picked up 8 of their shows!

The series being ordered for the 2015-2016 season include “Arrow” (Season 4), “Jane the Virgin” (Season 2), “Reign” (Season 3), “Supernatural” (Season 11), “The 100″ (Season 3), “The Flash” (Season 2), “The Originals” (Season 3), and “The Vampire Diaries” (Season 7).

I'm especially happy about Supernatural and The Originals. Arrow and The Flash I plan to watch on DVD. But I also plan to sample The 100 and Jane the Virgin - I hear both are really great and the latter has Bridget Regan playing a lesbian!

BTW, that makes SPN the longest running American sci-fi/fantasy show ever, right?

Yay! More Arrow and The Flash for me! And I should catch up on Reign and The Originals.

The Originals is the only CW show I'm actually up-to-date on, go me! :P

I have seen online somewhere that Smallville had 218 episodes. SPN has only aired 204 as of today but they should pass Smallville by the end of the season and for sure since it was renewed for another year.

However, the longest running SciFi/Fantasy show by episode (not season.. because season 3 of SPN was short due to writer's strike) is ...

Bewitched which (witch lol) had 254 episodes in 8 seasons.

This is American TV since we all know that Dr. Who has gone on forever... ^_^

So, Bewitched has the most episodes, but it ran only 8 seasons. As far as seasons go, which means how many years it was filmed, SPN will now be the longest one?

Bewitched was filmed between 64-72 (8 years or 8 seasons) 254 episodes. I have no idea how they determine why some shows get more episodes than others.

Although, I do know that SPN season 3 was shortened due to the writer's strike. So there is that.

It appears to me that if you go by 'seasons' then SPN will be the longest American running SciFi/Fantasy tv show at the end of it's 11th season.

Both Smallville and Stargate:SG1 ended after 10 seasons (218 and 214 episodes respectfully) Which means at the end of season 11 for Supernatural they should bypass both these numbers. *fingers crossed*
