I'm glad that Legolas helped Tauriel, even though he knew she was doing it for Kili. Legolas had feelings for her, deep feelings, but he put them aside to help her try to save the dwarf she loved. He even went up against Thranduil's wishes!

Which brings me to their scenes, Thranduil and Legolas' - there were only two of them, but oh. my. gosh! Thranduil's expression when Legolas told Tauriel he would go with her and help her save the dwarfs - you could see the beginnings of the Legolas who became Gimli's best friend in him already. And then later on, when Thranduil went searching for Legolas, when Legolas told him he couldn't go back home and Thranduil sent him after Aragorn. And when Thranudil said that Legolas' mother loved Legolas, more than anything - you could see that he was talking about himself, about his love for his son. But Thranduil simply couldn't say it, being too stuck-up. But Legolas knew. Aww...

And Bilbo and Thorin. Bilbo tried time and time again to bring Thorin back to his senses, to save him and the other dwarves - and Thorin's death... God, I had tears in my eyes. I was a mess. It was beautiful and so heartbreaking. Poor Thorin, poor Bilbo.

And the battle. Sheesh! The whole movie is basically one long battle. Best parts were definitely Legolas' and Thranduil's. Man! I adore watching elves fights. It's breathtaking.

I'm very happy with this film. Thumbs up from me!

Oh, and did you hear? The director's cut will be over 30 minutes longer!
