Universal and the team behind Fast & Furious 7 are facing a delay in production following the tragic death of actor Paul Walker, but sources say the movie will not be abandoned entirely.
The cast and crew of Fast 7 had been scheduled to return to Atlanta on Sunday to resume shooting the big-budget film, which features extensive car racing. Those plans are on hold until Monday or Tuesday at the earliest.
Director James Wan and Universal executives held a conference call Sunday morning to discuss the state of the film, whether rewrites would be necessary and how to proceed in a manner that would be respectful to Walker’s death. Walker, 40, was a favorite on the set of the Fast movies, and his death has left his fellow stars, including Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, and the crew devastated.
Insiders say a large part of the film had been shot, although in January, Walker and the rest of the Fast 7 team were scheduled to travel to Abu Dhabi to film additional scenes.

Personally, I hope they end the series after #7. Vin Diesel is the head of these movies but Paul Walker was the heart. If the movie is largely shot and Brian can be left alive, not killed off to explain the actor's absence, then they should just stop. Make the Hobbs spin-off or whatever. Just stop making the movies about Dom's family. Because I just can't imagine Dom's family without Brian. Brian joining the Torreto gang was the whole point of FF4 and FF5. If they went on without him, it would be pure milking and it would leave a really bad aftertaste in my mouth. Please, don't. Please, cast and crew, show respect to your friend by making the last movie in the series be a tribute to him.
