Speaking of Fantaghiro...

katikatI actually feel a bit sorry for people who don't know this wonderful fairy tale - well, the first 4 two-parters are wonderful, the fifth one... We don't speak of the fifth one, it's like with Voldemort. And since it has nothing to do with the original stories, there's no need to see it anyway.
But the first 4 movies... Man! How to describe Fantaghiro? Well, imagine... Merlin, the TV show, where Gwen is a spirited, sword-wielding princess who's Arthur's equal in everything, from her standing to her smarts and her fighting skills. That's who Fantaghiro and Romualdo are. And she keeps saving her husband and her kingdom from certain death and doom on a regular basis because Romualdo has the peculiar habit of getting himself kidnapped, turned into stone or memory-wiped - never his fault too, which is lovely - and it's up to Fantaghiro to save the day. Also, there is a talking goose. Just so you know.
But, gosh... Fantaghiro and Romualdo... So, SO gorgeous! I mean, Romualdo was played by Kim Rossi Stuart! The guy is so swoon-worthy, even 20 years later *happy sigh*
Does anyone on my flist know this series? Isn't it simply perfect? Well, cheesy as hell and the sword fights are laughable, but the relationships are amazing!
