An interesting interracial romance. Usually, a movie like this is told from the POV of the white character, whether they're male or female. This movie, though, is told from the POV of a black woman.

Kenya falls for a white guy, Bryan, whom her family and friends, basically her whole circle, reject simply because he's white and she needs to come to terms with that. It was really interesting to see this side of the relationship because, again, usually it's the white character who is made uncomfortable when seen with his or her black partner. Here, Bryan is perfectly fine dating a woman of a different race, it's Kenya who has a big issue with it and at first rejects him based on his skin color because dating outside her own race is simply not done or accepted. Quite an unusual story.

On a very shallow note, Simon Baker looks mighty fine here. But Blair Underwood plays a very... smarmy guy. The way he behaved towards Kenya made me very uncomfortable.
