To enjoy this movie, you have to forget about the previous two and watch it as a standalone adventure, not a sequel. Because it's not up to par with the first two movies and sometimes, it's not just campy but downright ridiculous. I missed the focus on Rick and Evie and even though Brendan Fraser and Maria Bello had good chemistry and I would've loved them together had I not seen Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in these parts... I did see Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in these parts, unfortunately. I still wonder why Rachel Weisz dropped out. Some say she didn't like the script, others say she didn't want to play the mother of an adult man... Who knows?
Still, I'm not too happy about the fact that they are remaking the franchise, especially since they plan on turning it into a real horror, dropping the camp and fun. I mean, don't get me wrong, a bit less humor wouldn't have hurt these movies, but to drop it completely? Eh, I don't know...
