Novels! ;) I can't believe I'm saying this because I've never liked YA books, not even as a young adult, but... I'm actually, honest to God falling in love with young adult stuff, especially dystopian novels. I think it might have a LOT to do with Dylan O'Brien playing Thomas in The Maze Runner which will appear in the cinemas in September this year. I'm almost finished with the book and the idea of it is great - though he writing not so much. I think it might be one of those books that look better on-screen due to the epic scale of its setting. Just the maze itself... And also, Dylan O'Brien ;) The trailer should be out in 2 weeks, attached to Divergent, I guess...

Speaking of which...

It looks good. And I like the actor playing Four, Theo James. Hopefully, it won't flop like The Mortal Instruments, The Vampire Academy, The Host or Beautiful Creatures. So far, out of all the YA novel based movies only Twilight and The Hunger Games became a real hit. Everything else is flopping really hard. Which is too bad... :(

"Bronze - Zetsuai since 1989 Vol. 1" by Minami Ozaki

I don't think I'll be reading any more volumes in this series. The whole relationship between Koji and Izumi rubs me the wrong way. Koji is a psycho and Izumi is the willing victim that gets blamed for every crazy thing Koji does in the name of his "love" for Izumi. If Koji's obsession were at least portrayed as wrong but no, it's presented as something beautiful, a thing to cherish. No, just... no.

"The Maze Runner (The Maze Runner #1)" by James Dashner

Rating: ♦ ♦ ♦

4 stars for plot, 2 stars for execution.

The plot itself was really great, just like the setting. The boys in the middle of the maze, the maze itself, the idea behind the maze, the mystery of Thomas... excellent. But the execution...

The characters' mood swings were giving me a whiplash. Up and down, all the time. I mean, I get that they were teenagers, their reactions didn't ring true at times, though, especially Thomas', the writing felt... inconsistent.

Also, I think that this is one of the stories that will look better on-screen. Especially the grievers, I hope they make them really terrifying. Cannot wait to see it in the cinema in September 2014 (hopefully, they will actually show it here!)
