On DVD: Pacific Rim

Today, I received Pacific Rim in the mail - together with Fast & Furious 6! - and immediately had to watch it. And yes, I liked it even more the second time around. I don't get why this movie didn't become a massive hit. Yes, I was still annoyed by the scientist dudes, they should've really toned them down - and I don't get why the fandom is obsessed with them - but other than that, I loved the movie.

The good stuff:

♦ Every scene with Raleigh and Mako. I loved that they clicked from the get-go, immediately. And that they didn't kiss and become a couple - at least not yet. I adored their friendship, the simple head-touch at the very end, in the last scene. Why can't there be more wonderful male-female friendship out there?

♦ Every mecha fight scene. Man, I'm a huge fan of the Japanese mecha anime! So, this was basically a dream come true. Speaking of which, any tips for new mecha anime out there?

♦ Herc and Chuck Hansen. Chuck was a douche but their scenes were awesome. And when Stryker was destroyed... When Chuck died... I actually bawled, I kid you not. I'm glad that they didn't shy away from the cost of war, still - tears!

* The other jaegers, Crimson Typhoon and Cherno Alpha. I would've liked to get to know their teams better but I get that time wouldn't allow it.

Awesome movie! And it was breathtaking in the cinema. Especially the huge fights *happy sigh*
