Despite my misgivings, I decided to give a try to
Da Vinci's Demons. And I was very, very disappointed.
EVERYBODY but Leonardo seemed to be gay. Seriously, completely at random, men fucking men but Leonardo? He fucked/flirted his way through the episode with women. If this is their idea of "addressing" his bisexuality/homosexuality then no, thank you! Leonardo Da Vinci was one of the most famous gay/bi or asexual, if you want, persons EVER! Here, he's so aggressively heterosexual that the bit where he actually checks out a guy feels like an afterthought, in a "Oh, yes, almost forgot! See how GAY he is?" way. Eh.
Also, the actor. He's so 21st century - his looks, his behavior - that I just don't believe he's Da Vinci. I thought they would choose someone with more charisma. Whenever he has a scene with Alexander Siddig - of the ST:DS9 fame! - he's totally overshadowed by him.
Eh. Just... eh. I might go back to it and give it try in another 5 or 6 episodes, to see if it gets any better - I mean,
Spartacus didn't really start working for me till Liam McIntyre took over and Nasir joined the game - but right now? Both thumbs down.
