Ah, the dwarves
Dec. 15th, 2012 06:25 pmYes, the dwarves. 13 of them! And people seem to have fallen hard for...

... the heroic and noble Thorin Oakenshield who's just as brave and kick-ass as Aragorn was in LotR. And Richard Armitage is sex on legs, on that we can agree, right? Right. But for me, personally...

... it was Kili all the way. Just as brave but much funnier and rather... Well, he and his brother Fili reminded me of Merry and Pippin in the LotR movies. Always getting into some mischief. Like with the ponies...
I was simply smitten with his fighting skills. Basically a baby among the dwarves - no BEARD! - he was the best shot, picking off their enemies and... just the way he twirled a sword! *_* I have a thing for bowmen, I really, really do.
And his wonderful relationship with Fili! Gosh, you just had to love these two.
I feel like watching the whole LotR trilogy, the extended version - FINALLY. But... the next week or so, I need to work really, really hard to be able to have some time off over Xmas. So, in the evening, I'm usually so tired, my brain's mush. I think I'll leave it and watch it over Xmas. I'll have something to look forward to!

Fic rec: Inception
Dec. 15th, 2012 08:07 pm"The Rebel French" by primavera | Arthur/Eames | Arthur barely registers the bullet through his knee. It's the second bullet that does it: hits him square in the chest, takes him clean off his feet. | ~34.000 words
Eames is definitely not the good guy here. When you realize what he has done... I'm not sure I could've forgiven him the way Arthur did.
Reading this fic, the style felt really familiar - and then I realized it's the same author who wrote the ST Kirk/Bones fic "Knives in the Water", one of the best AUs in the fandom!
"What the fuck are you doing?" Arthur snaps, yanks the report from Eames's slack, shaking hands.
Eames was staring at a picture that makes the museum look like the inside of a slaughterhouse. Paramedics and officers had stampeded through his blood, smeared it all across the floor after they revived him. It's the first time Arthur's gotten a proper look at the picture, is mildly amazed that all that blood came from him.
"Arthur," Eames starts, voice just as shaky has his hands, his body. His eyes are glassy, wet looking—horrified the way they were the first time he saw Arthur's scarred chest and ran.

The Chronicles of Narnia 1

I wanted to strangle all the kids but Lucy - Lucy was really sweet. But Edmund? Such an annoying, spoiled, vicious, cruel brat! And Susan, with her incessant whining. Peter wasn't half bad, though. But I would've preferred more Lucy and less... everybody else.
And the battles and stuff... It was so awful. The last... "big" battle seemed more like a tumble between two groups of school kids. I guess I'm really spoiled by the epicness that's LotR and The Hobbit but that looked really cheap.
So yeah, the only good, really good thing about it was Mr. Tumnus. He was so incredibly sweet, what with his ears and hooves and furry coat and tiny tail... and the teeny tiny horns! Aww! He's the only reason why I don't feel like I've wasted my time watching this movie.
