Box office success!

This weekend, The Avengers crossed the $1.5 billion threshold and The Dark Knight Rises reached $1 bil. and became the highest grossing Batman movie ever, surpassing TDK - both make me so happy, but especially TDKR's success because it's a kick in the kisser for every naysayer and hater out there who insisted that it would never reach $1 bil. just because Americans didn't like it as much as TDK - guess what, jerks? The US isn't the butt of the world, no matter what you think!

So yeah, happy about that! Still, I'll be here, in the corner, petting my poor Premium Rush that's getting flattened like a pancake at the box office right now. Poor thing :( And I won't get to see it till the end of October here. Pah!

Haters gonna hate...

... because why bother and find out the truth, right?

The internet has been up in arms about how Benedict Cumberbatch said that Jonny Lee Miller took the part of Sherlock Holmes in Elementary for the "paycheck". Before you start spewing vitriol and calling him names, haters, do check your facts otherwise you will look like fools:

Cumberbatch has reached out to The Hollywood Reporter to clarify what he characterizes as a "misquote."

The statement:

"I am both bemused and upset at this misquote. I never said that Johnny took the job for the paycheck nor did I ask him not to do it. What I said is I would have preferred not to be in the situation where we will again be compared because we are friends. I know for a fact his motivations were to do with the quality of the script and the challenges of this exceptional role.

"It is baffling because I have only been supportive of an incredibly talented actor who I am proud to call a friend taking a job I know he is going to enjoy immensely and be wonderful in.

"Over 70 actors have played this exceptional character before us. To say that there can be only one Holmes would be ludicrous. We're both thrilled to get the opportunity to play him in a modern context. The world of Sherlock Holmes and the world that we live in now is big enough to take more than one interpretation. As a genuine Sherlock Holmes fan I am greatly looking forward to his series."

But I guess that doesn't sound as good when you want to hate on someone just because he breaths, right? Benedict Cumberbatch has always been supportive of Miller in this part, he did say he wasn't sure about it, if the parts were different enough, but he always wished him good luck. He said it, Jonny Lee Miller said it too... But some people will always take what tabloids say at face value when it suits their agenda.

ETA: And before you link me to the original ShortList article, I read it: link. And when you read his comments, remember what his "begone woman" and "attrocious drama" comments looked like just because the reporter didn't bother to mention Benedict was joking/to what exactly he was responding.

If you read 10 articles in which he is supportive of Miller and one in which it sounds he isn't and you decide to believe the one, despite everything that was said by both actors, on camera and off, what exactly does that say about YOU and your prejudice?

I can't believe that Michael Clarke Duncan died. I mean, actors' deaths usually don't hit me that hard but he was... so incredibly sweet and lovely it was hard not to fall for him, for his smile... More here: link.
