Aidan Quinn cast in Elementary

Elementary cast its "cop": link.

The show has cast Aidan Quinn, who will play the role of New York Police Department’s Captain Gregson. It’s Gregson who invites Sherlock Holmes to New York in the new series, with the backstory being that he worked with Holmes at Scotland Yard beforehand.

Why, oh, WHY couldn't they have made the show a complete original, with original characters - or at least wannabe original a la House? Why couldn't it be Peter Michaels and Mary Lang or whoever instead of Holmes and Watson? Because I really like the idea itself and I really like the characters and actors but I hate, hate the fact that they are mooching off someone else's success, simply riding on the coattails of another production that paved the way for them. It leaves a rather bad aftertaste in my mouth.

Theo James cast in Golden Boy

Theo James replaced Ryan Phillippe in CBS' Golden Boy: link.

Which means no Jed in Bedlam's S2 - and yes, from what I heard, Bedlam should return later this year with new characters. Considering the whole show was built on Jed and his supernatural abilities, I'm not sure if I'm interested, to be honest. Yes, I still have 3 episodes left to watch from S1 but Theo James' Jed was the main draw for me :(
