The Eagle

So, The Eagle. It's a historical gay romance. Right...? I understood it correctly, right? Right?! *shifty eyes* Because, seriously...



From the moment Marcus and Esca meet, they can't take their eyes off each other. I mean, the book is slashy enough, but they made the movie even slashier when they trashed the romance sub-plot - what there was of it - and made it completely about Marcus and Esca. Most of the movie, it's just the two of them, going somewhere, doing something, running from something or just plain talking. I haven't seen two characters so completely enthralled with each other since... Sam and Dean, actually.

The movie itself is pretty good but mostly because a) the relationship between Marcus and Esca, as I said above, and b) the atmosphere. The cinematography is amazing. The Highlands, the river, the rain, the snow, the utter desolation and beauty of the country... And the music! Mostly, there's no music at all or just something very soft. But then they use a voice singing acapella and... wow!

And there was Mark Strong in it and I didn't even recognize him! Wah!

Off to read some Marcus/Esca fics! \o/
