Day 10 - Your favorite Sam/other death scene

Sam's death in All Hell Breaks Loose 1. That was so... heartbreaking, the way his face lit up when he saw Dean and right after that he was stabbed and died. That scene was so incredibly, terribly, awfully sad, the way Dean held Sam tight, crying.

What's the most anticipated book of 2011 for you?

Mine? Mark Del Franco's "Uncertain Allies", 5th in the "Connor Grey" series. Man, I can't wait for this one. After the game changing book 4, I have no idea where the author will take it now. I'm especially curious about how the friendship between Connor and Murdock will change, after all spoilers for book 4! )

So, tell me, what are you looking forward to most?

Synopsis... )

Review: Very likable characters, rather poor execution. The story felt rushed and shallow, not properly developed, only touched upon. The author failed to create a real sense of danger, a real connection between Damon and Sarah. It felt as if we were only told that those two were destined to be soul mates, it wasn't really shown or felt. And even the characters' background was rather scrappy. These lovable characters deserved a longer, more in-depth story.

I bought the trilogy box set for Xmas, as a gift to myself :) Finally got around to watch it.

Fellowship of the Ring

I'm not a big fan of the hobbits - I'm more of an elf girl ;) - so the first half of the movie felt a bit slow to me. I mean, I understand that the movie is set in a fantasy land, so it needs to be introduced first, of course. But I would've preferred a little more action there.

As I said, I'm an elf girl so I love Legolas! Seriously, watching Orlando Bloom wield a sword - or two swords or a bow, for that matter - is a thing of beauty, as I told [livejournal.com profile] yami_tai. He's incredibly graceful and nimble, be it in LotR or PotC. When I see him fight, I'm always reminded of Drizzt Do'Urden - only Drizzt's dark-skinned, being the drow hero of R.A. Salvatore's books.

My favorite part of the movie is the friendship between Aragorn and Legolas and then, later on, between Legolas and Gimli. It was so funny to watch Legolas run ON the snow while everybody else had to plow THROUGH it. I bet especially Gimli was annoyed by that!

And the fights! Loved the one with the goblins and with Balrog, that was my favorite fight of the whole movie.

Oh, and let's not forget the music. Wow!

You know, I've never read the LotR books, go figure. I need to borrow them and read them... But watching this movie, it made me want to read a real fantasy book again - not urban fantasy, not sci-fi, but a real fantasy book like those that I usually translate. But translating is not really reading.
