Day 12: A scene that had you yelling at the screen

The one where Rodney told Jennifer he loved her, in The Shrine. Totally out of the blue, that one. They had one drink together a season back and suddenly, he was in love with her. Oh yes, and let's not forget how it went down: "Jennifer, I love you. ... ... ... Where is JOHN? I want JOHN!" Seriously. Out of his mind with sickness and having the woman he loved right in front of him, he couldn't stop yelling for John. Riiiiiiiiight...

Synopsis... )

Review: The "Holmes & Moriarity" books are quickly becoming my favorite series by Josh Lanyon, topping even the "Adrien English Mysteries", maybe because J.X. is not a jerk like Jake was. Also, it doesn't hurt that Christopher's acerbic monologues remind a lot of Stargate: Atlantis' Rodney McKay, bad back included.

Without spoiling the plot, I have to say that this book was darker than what I'm used to from Josh Lanyon. I felt so incredibly sorry for Christopher and I was so happy that J.X. stuck with him, through thick and thin and all that jazz. They are a lovely couple.

The Alternative Factor: That. Was. AWFUL. Wow. It dragged on and on, the guest star's acting was painful to watch and even Kirk behaved totally OOC, disregarding everything Spock and McCoy told him as a... joke! WTF?! Never again, this episode. NEVER AGAIN!

The City on the Edge of Forever: Loved it. Especially Kirk teasing Spock about his... inability to build a computer from what was available in the 1930s. Ha! Also, Joan Collins! Man, she was beautiful... *_* And I felt so sorry for both Kirk and Bones, they both liked Edith a LOT!

Operation - Annihilate!: Excellent episode. I found it interesting that Kirk was more upset about the possibility of losing Spock than about his own brother's death. And I felt so sorry for Bones, when he realized that he hadn't had to use so strong a light, that Spock didn't have to go blind. The look Kirk gave him. Ouch! But then, when Kirk actually let it simmer, he realized that it really wasn't Bones' fault - but then, the damage was done. Man, I think that if Spock hadn't healed on his own, McCoy would've never forgiven himself...

And I'm done with Season 1 *throws confetti* What I loved most about it? That the cast was big but most stories focused on Kirk, Spock and Bones, that was what I really liked. I'm no fan of huge casts where, in the end, no character has enough time on-screen.

My favorite episodes of season 1?

Gold: The Corbomite Maneuver
Silver: Balance of Terror
Bronze: Operation - Annihilate!

I know that there are several specials on the DVD but I opted for not watching them. I'm content with not breaking the 4th wall here and not knowing more about what was going on behind the curtain...

And! I found out that eBooks.com carries over 120 ST:TOS tie-ins! *rolls in the pretty*
