Question for the bibliophiles on my flist

Did it ever happen to you that you were looking forward to a book so much that when you finally got it, you were actually afraid to read it because you were convinced that it just couldn't meet your expectations and you would be disappointed in the end? Or am I just weird that way?

I think that these two episodes are my favorite so far, mostly because of the planet exploration which I just love :)

What Are Little Girls Made Of?: Interesting concept. How many doubles will Kirk have during the run of the series? XD And the red-shirts keep dying... :P I like Nurse Chapel, she's a cool lady, but her dress is awful - that pointy bodice makes me LOL!

Miri: I know that Kirk didn't mean it that way when he told Miri she was beautiful but, yikes, it made me uncomfortable. I mean, she still was a kid, after all. Also, those children were so creepy, crazy creepy. How do you reason with a 300-year-old kid?

But now I have a ST:Reboot related question. Is McCoy's daughter Joanna reboot canon? Was she mentioned in the movie? I know that McCoy raved about his nutso ex-wife but did he ever mention a kid? Or are fanfic writers simply mixing Reboot and ST:TOS? I don't remember him ever talking about Joanna, so I was really surprised to see her playing a big part in most fics focused on McCoy...
