Non-stop action thriller with some sci-fi elements. Definitely a page turner. On the other hand, the action is so fast that you basically have no time to properly delve into the characters. And some of the stunts that Schofield pulls are humanly impossible. But it really is suspense pure, from fist-fights to nuclear bombs - you name it, the book definitely has got it. Also, I got some Stargate Atlantis flashbacks: Schofield and Renshaw kind of remind me of Sheppard and McKay.

Ha, I figured it out! I figured out what my problem with Hendee's dhampir series is - well, besides their uber-cool Mary-Sue Wynn, that is: Everybody is permanently pissed, angry, enraged, annoyed, you name it. They don't talk, they growl, snarl, snap and other synonyms. I can't see Magiere and Leesil becoming a couple without stabbing each other in the eye with a fork within one year. It's incredibly tiresome to work on a book where bleakness is the characters' perpetual state of mind. Ick!

On a much happier note - a Sports Night fic rec that made me giggle!
SLASH, Dan/Casey --> "Flora and Fauna and Bob" by Julian Lee. Casey finds out that Dan is bisexual. He has no problem with that. But he wants Dan to grow out his hair XD Words: ~5.000.

Excerpt:
Casey looked up from the screen as Dan ended a phone conversation with a woman whose name might possibly have something to do with the plant kingdom. "So...Daisy?" Casey asked.
"Poppy."
"I knew it was a flower."
"You were close."
"I knew it was flora of some variety."
"You were right there at the edge of the prairie, my friend."
*giggles*

First with Robert Picardo. I loved this part:
TVGuide.com: Did you bond with any in particular in the cast?
Picardo: The cast was very welcoming to me and they're all unique individuals — a fun group. Joe Flanigan (Maj. John Sheppard) teased me a lot about being his new "lady" on the show because my two predecessors were both female. And David Hewlett — I pride myself on being kind of a funny guy; I like to crack people up on set. But, David Hewlett left me in the dust. He's a very funny man. But both Jewel (Staite, Dr. Keller) and Rachel (Luttrell, Teyla) I got to know a little better because I hung out with them more. At Comic-Con, Jewel and I were paired up doing a lot of the press and Rachel had me over for dinner early on.
It's funny that Joe Flanigan teased both Robert Picardo and David Hewlett about them being his "women" XD

And with David Hewlett. I think his response to this question sums up my problem with the McKeller ship:
TVGuide.com: Good to know because she said kissing you [on the show] was kind of torturous because you're more like a brother.
Hewlett: (Laughs) OK, that's kind of true! We're kind of like Statler and Waldorf from The Muppet Show. You know, the two old guys in the top balcony? That's basically Jewel and I on set. Basically the ones standing there cutting up everybody on set and saying how stupid our jobs, our lives and the world is. And, we take great glee in that and usually end up cracking each other up and hopefully the people around us as well. But all the sudden [the producers] said, "You guys are in a relationship." And we were like, "What?!" The best way, honestly, to do a romantic scene in anything is to be introduced to them and then [directly] in the scene. So there's no time to be... (Awkward.)
The decision that McKay and Keller were in a relationship was so sudden that not even the actors noticed any "courting" between the characters at all. Bad writing.

So, tonight, they air the last episode of the show. From the promo, it'll be great - or at least I hope so, you never know with the writers this season (I thought I would love Remnants and I ended up hating that ep, and I was convinced that Prodigal would be boring and it's my favorite ep of the 2nd half of the season!). I'm looking forward to it, really, but at the same time, I'm dreading it. I'm afraid that there's no chance that it could live up to my expectations. And it's the last episode of the whole show and I hate going in knowing it...
