Sleep While I Drive
Angst, Sap ~ YAOI Kato/Iwaki ~ Kato is a rather protective individual.
As Kato strode purposefully through the camp, heading for the director’s trailer, he could feel the people on the watching him and hear them whispering.
"Did you hear? Iwaki-san collapsed this morning on the second set. Really, it’s true. I wonder what happened. Kato-san looks really strange. I hope it’s nothing serious…“
His face set in stone, sunglasses hiding the look in his eyes, he stopped in front of the closed door of the director’s temporary headquarters and knocked on the door hard, then slipped his hands into the pockets of his white jacket.
The door opened with a quiet creak and Minako-san, the director’s personal secretary peaked out from the shadowed interior. When she saw him standing there, she stared nervously. "Yes, Kato-san?“
"May I?“ he asked, nodding with his head towards the trailer.
Minako-san hesitated for a moment, but finding no excuse for refusing him entry, she opened the door wide and stepped aside. "Of course.“
Climbing the three steps up, he stepped inside the trailer and looked to the left where he knew the director’s desk stood. The nervous looking, balding man sat there, watching him with trepidation. Kato thought that it was no wonder since he had a reputation for a violent temper when Iwaki’s safety was compromised.
Kato stopped in front of the desk and looked down at the smaller man sitting behind it for a moment. Then he pulled his hands out of his pockets and leaned over the desk, laying his hands palms flat on the cluttered surface. The director pulled away as far as the cramped space allowed him.
Setting his voice very low, Kato said menacingly, looking the director directly in the eyes over the rim of his sunglasses: "If you ever force Iwaki-san to not eat again, to starve and endanger his health, I swear, you will regret it. Do I make myself clear?“
The older man nodded his head vigorously, obviously terrified out of his wits.
Kato nodded and continued matter-of-factly. "Good. Now we will take the weekend off and appear on the set on Monday morning again. If you have any objections, we will leave now and you can start looking for new lead actors. Do you agree?“
The director was sweating now. "Err… yes, yes… of course we do… of course… uh…“
Kato nodded again. "Good. We will see you on Monday then.“
With that he straightened and leaving the director to wipe his forehead dry with his handkerchief he headed for the door where Minako-san was standing, avoiding his look and clutching a pile of files to her chest almost painfully. Kato walked passed her and out of the door, then towards the makeshift parking place on the edge of the cliff where they had been filming lately, completely oblivious to the whispering that started again as he left the set.
He opened the door of his rented car and slid inside, closing it as quietly as possible. Though the dark-haired man in the passenger seat woke up anyway. Blinking his tired, sleep-clouded eyes open, Iwaki turned his head towards his lover and a little smile graced his full lips.
"Hey,“ he whispered in a greeting.
"Hey,“ Kato answered, pushed the dark glasses up into his hair and leaned closer, pressing their lips together gently. It was an undemanding kiss, a simple show of affection. Then he pulled back, caressing the slightly gaunt and pale cheek. "The director gave us the weekend off. He was very helpful.“
Iwaki frowned slightly, seeking his lover’s eyes. "You didn’t do anything stupid like threaten him, did you?“
Kato grinned innocently. "Of course not. You know me.“
The dark-haired man grimaced. "That’s why I was asking.“
Kato laughed freely, then straightened and turned the key in the ignition. The engine rumbled peacefully. "You don’t have to worry. For the next two days you don’t have to think about anything.“
Giving his lover one last glance, he backed out of the parking place. "And now take a nap. It’ll take some time before we reach the hotel.“
Still frowning slightly but obviously deciding to trust Kato, Iwaki closed his eyes snuggling under the warm fur lined jacket Kato used for a blanket when he picked his lover from the hospital. In a matter of minutes, he was asleep.
Kato smiled and pulled out into the traffic.
