You know, some characters are harder to write than the others. I'm not talking about their mental state but about their speech patterns. Some characters simply talk... "weird". They use "big words" that are hard to grasp for non-English native readers/writers. To these characters I would count Benton Fraser from due South and Ezra Standish from The Magnificent Seven. A non-English native writer can't keep these characters actually "in character" without a massive help from an educated English native beta. And that's rather frustrating... *sigh*

SPOILERy thoughts about the upcoming season of Supernatural )

I should be asleep but I'm not. And so I decided to ask my friends a question...

What are your three favorite female characters on TV? In no particular order. Just from the top of your head. Three women that you really like for they are or what they do or how they behave...

For me it's (in no particular order)

Temperance *Bones* Brennan (Bones) )
~*~
Allison Blake (Eureka) )
~*~
Ziva David (NCIS) )

There are many, many more but these came to my mind first because I'm still watching these shows.

What about you, dear friends?

Title: Counting Scars
Author: [livejournal.com profile] katikat
Fandom: Donald Strachey Mysteries
Dislaimer: All standard disclaimers apply here.
Prompt: # 3, Ritual

It was Donald's nightly ritual. A little morbid, masochistic even, guilt trip down the memory lane.

Every night after Timmy fell asleep, Donald counted the scars that marred his lover's body. It was his prayer, his way to thank God for keeping Timothy alive, maybe a little more mangled and world weary, but alive.

Tracing the pale scars, the puckered, healed reminders, with his fingertips, Donald remembered…

Timmy… thrown through a glass door… shot… stabbed… hit by a car…

There were so many of them, so many scars, so many near-misses. And Donald swore never to forget.

Disclaimer: This never happened although I did find inspiration in the blooper for S2.
Prompt: # 25, Sense

One scene, done over and over, always something going wrong. One would think that a damn rock-paper-scissors would be easy, right? But sheer exhaustion is an actor's worst enemy…

And so Jared touches Jensen, again and again, laying his hand over Jensen's heart. Jensen's not sure what's so different about this particular touch but something must be because his skin tingles still, even after wrap-up.

When Jared catches Jensen rubbing his chest with a confused expression on his face, he frowns and asks worriedly: "You okay?"

And Jensen, looking a bit lost, answers honestly: "You know, I'm not really sure."
