Anime: Ouran High School Host Club
Aug. 2nd, 2006 11:15 pmI'm falling more and more in love with this anime. Everything about it is excellent. The way it's drawn, the seiyuus, the characters, the relationships, the music...
I've downloaded the OST and there are some character songs there too. The Mori-senpai's one is the most beautiful... Or maybe I like Tama-chan's song best after all? Now I'm not sure but it is really cool. These two seiyuus have a wonderful singing voice which pleases me immensely!
At first, I was drawn to this anime because of how it's drawn. The background is usually rather elaborate and the characters are very distinctive. And the funny moments are done in a hilarious way, really. Especially Haruhi's face when the others manage to do something they consider normal but she completely nutty XD And I like the colors very much too. I can't wait for the manga to arrive so that I can compare the two styles.
But now, what draws me to this series like a magnet are the relationships, the characters and their backgrounds. The boys look like your usual stereotype characters, simply borrowed from other series (Honey-senpai and Momiji from Fruits Basket - they even have the same seiyuu) but actually, they defy the stereotypes that everyone thinks they represent. Honey-senpai and his ( spoilery ) are the best example for that. It fascinates me how there is always something new revealed about the characters in every episode. And it isn't always happy...
I think I would have a hard time choosing only one character and saying that I like this one best. But should push come to shove, I would choose Tamaki. Not because of his beautiful looks or kind of idiotic behavior, but because of his good heart and his desire to build a new family for himself in the club. I love it how the simplest thing makes him so happy and excited... But of course, the twins and their yaoicest-ish act aren't far behind.
And how did I actually come to write this long review? (Is it just me or are my reviews really getting longer and longer? XD) Well, I found the Ouran High School Host Club page on Wikipedia. How cool is that? :D
