Last night, I read the "Bond of the Maleri': Mate Hunt" ebook by Kate Steele.
The ebook tells the story of Coltas Oldarie, a Maleri. He is an empath, living on a planet called Belthola. All the empaths are male and they need a mate to channel their pent up powers, otherwise they go nuts. And so Col flies to Earth (present time) to find his mate. And finds him in Matt Ashton who is not at all happy about the bond Col created between them the moment they touched for the first time. Matt is namely hiding a painful past...
The idea was excellent! Why, oh why didn't Kate Steele flesh the characters out and made a proper book of it? I wouldn't mind buying an ebook twice as long as this was (only 40 pages) :( Unfortunately this way, the book feels rather flat and doesn't live up to its potential.
On the "paper book scale" I would give it 2,5 stars. On the "ebook scale" though, it's a 4 stars rating. Why? Because for once, it's not a PWP where if you erased the sex scenes all that would remain would be the title and "the end". This ebook has an actual plot! :D But the sex is hot too of course ;P
