The Da Vinci Code

This movie makes me highly uncomfortable. It just weirds me out O.o I hate, HATE religious fanatics. Whether they admit to being fanatics or just call themselves "conservatives" or whatever. And I don't care if they are Christian, Muslim or if they bow down before the Flying Spaghetti Monster. My country is 75% atheist. I'm agnostic. I feel awkward when Americans tell me God should bless me! That just gives me the heebie jeebies. So in this movie, with Silas being a complete nutter, whipping himself... Sheesh on a pogo stick! Give me anything but zealots!

And the actors. I can take or leave Tom Hanks and Jean Reno. I'm not exactly going out of my way to watch their movies, but I don't dislike them. Paul Bettany... great actor but he creeped me out so much here! But whom I really hate is Audrey Tautou. Gosh, she rubs me the wrong way. And reading some interviews where she kept saying how she regretted starring in this movie etc. and so on... Uh. Since then I can't watch this without being annoyed by her. And Ian McKellen. Lovely man, amazing actor... another creepy part.

I liked the mystery, the bits about Mary Magdalene... But at certain point it started to feel too convoluted. Like with Leigh and his plan... I could understand the first half of it, but the thing in London? With Remy? Why? Why did he do that? Robert and Sophie would've helped him anyway! It was totally unnecessary, drama for drama's sake. And I hated how everybody kept on disbelieving, saying that this or that was impossible. Once, twice? Okay, understandable. But time after time? Actually every time they revealed something new?

Also, I had to watch it in Czech, dubbed, because many of the actors were French and their accent was so thick I could barely understand them.
