Me and the twins, we went to see both Star Trek Into Darkness - yup, again! - and Man of Steel today, much to the amusement of the theater attendants. And we all agreed that STID was much better than MoS. Huge spectacle aside, STID was simply much funnier, much more engaging. With MoS, it was like looking at a well crafted tapestry, beautiful but lifeless.

I mean, don't get me wrong, Henry Cavill was amazing and I loved Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Michael Shannon also did a fantastic job as Zod and Laurence Fishburne is always amazing. But Amy Adams was too sweet as Lois Lane. Lois should have spunk and balls of steel, Amy is just... well... sweet. I just didn't buy her as a tough reporter.

Also, the movie takes itself too seriously and the damage... the scale of it... O.O What The Avengers had done to NY was nothing compared to what Zod and his band did to Metropolis. And still, the whole last act, I was expecting something... more? As in, not just one huge, continuous battle. It felt like they defeated Zod way too easily. I mean, the plan they came up with, they figured it out on the spot and then it was just BAM, BAM, BAM...

To sum it up, Henry Cavill is a great Superman. But the movie is too dreary. And I now ship Jor-El and Zod. I liked it better than Iron Man 3 and Furious 6 but not as much as Star Trek Into Darkness. I would give it 7/10.

I actually thought STID and MOS were both excellent. Loved Amy Adams's Lois Lane. But that's okay, but Henry Cavill is pretty. Let's enjoy that prettiness. :)

I think I missed a lot of those seasons. Would love to go back and watch. :)
