I Kinda Lost It

After reading all the posts that call Derek a douche and bash him left and right, I kinda lost it on Tumblr. And this is what I posted:

I’m sick and tired of people calling Derek a douche while victimizing everybody else. Did they somehow forget that Derek was the victim of a STATUTORY RAPE, that his rapist BURNED DOWN HIS HOUSE and MURDERED ALMOST HIS WHOLE FAMILY and got away with it, then she KIDNAPPED and TORTURED him? Did they somehow forget that HIS UNCLE murdered his SISTER and then he tried to murder HIM too? If you want to play the victim game and point out how DAMAGED these people are and how their reactions are SKEWED by their SUFFERING, let’s put Derek FRONT AND CENTER, please! Derek is a VICTIM too with issues the size of Grand Canyon! Why do you, yes you, bashers, expect everyone BUT HIM to be traumatized? His trauma didn’t magically go away when he became alpha. What you do is blame the victim for having issues and not handling them according to how YOU would like it. FOR FUCK’S SAKE!

In no way do I suggest that other people's trauma does not matter. But after everything Derek went through, I think Beacon Hills can be glad he didn't lose it completely and turn into Peter, that he still has the conscience and decency to try and protect both humans and his pack, even if people don't like the way he goes about it.
