Oblivion is a great movie! Visually, it's simply stunning. It cost $120 mil. to make but it looks much, much more expensive. I guess because it's not in 3D, they could put the money to good use. Iceland's landscape is breathtaking and the director, Joseph Kosinski, who also directed Tron: Legacy, squeezed every last bit of awesome out of the scenery!

The movie itself? Every time I thought I had it figured out, I was totally blindsided by a new twist and everything turned upside down and inside out and I realized, I actually had no idea what was going on. So many wonderful surprises. Yet they all felt natural, not forced. You never felt like something was just thrown in for the coolness of it. Everything served the story.

It was also really great to see an actual ORIGINAL sci-fi movie. Not a sequel, prequel, adaptation, remake or anything like that. The last really original movie that I saw in the cinema was Looper but this was much, much better. It seemed more organic and not as depressing and sterile. Oblivion felt incredibly vibrant, despite its post-apocalyptic setting.

I loved the character moments. Jack at the stadium. At the cabin. Growing the flower. Keeping the books... It gave me the feeling I knew the guy. So when the action started, I actually felt for him, rooted for him!

I loved the... flat? Command center? Villa? Where they lived. Gosh, it looked so, so good. All polished, with a minimum of furniture. Wonderful...

And the twists: I actually stared, all bug-eyed, when he met the other clone! I so didn't expect that! Or when we found out that the control centre was actually the alien ship that destroyed the Moon and then Earth itself. And that they were serving the aliens! And then the aliens turned out to be one super computer! Awesome, awesome, AWESOME!

Oh, and the action scenes! Like when Jack and Julia fought the drones in the canyon. Wow!

Also loved the ending. It felt positive, good, happy. Not depressing or brooding. I loved that.

Go and see it folks! It's wroth seeing in the theater, definitely!
