katikatWhat was the point of having Callen drink the cyanide if they hadn't planned on milking it a bit? He had a serum with him, boohoo. His captors didn't pat him down? And one scene with shaky hands was all that we got? Eh. I was disappointed.
Richer and less claustrophobic. Suddenly, it's not just Sam and Dean, it's Sam and Dean and Kevin and Crowley and Bobby and Benny and Cas and Naomi and Garth... All these people, doing their things. It feels like the Winchester's world is opening up.
I honestly didn't care about Bobby's return. I mean, I get that he's a father figure to them and I loved, LOVED that he yelled at Sam for letting Dean rot in Purgatory but... IMHO, Sam and Dean are too old for a father figure now. They need to stand on their own two feet without someone holding their hand. I get that that's not the only role a father figure plays, emotional support is also important, but for them, Bobby and John had always been crutches, they were there to chastise them and tell what to do. They were never their partners like Sam and Dean and Cas are. And I think the boys simply don't need Bobby or John anymore. I very much prefer Garth in Bobby's place, it feels like a new generation is taking over.
The most emotional bit for me was Dean and Benny. Their scenes together made my heart go all... tight. I was so glad that Benny wasn't angry at Dean. And the way Dean got all teary eyed when he had to chop off Benny's head and when he then found out that Benny decided to stay in Purgatory... I'm also glad that he didn't burn Benny's body, keeping it hidden, just in case they find a way to get Benny back out. That was wonderful.
And Kevin, going totally nuts. I mean, did they expect anything else? They had him cooped up, doing nothing else but reading a tablet!
