Well, damn. According to Deadline.com, Matthew Vaughn won't be directing X-Men: Days of Future Past after all. He just stepped down. He will still be producing the movie and he wrote the outline that Simon Kinsberg's turned into a script, but he won't be directing it. It's possible that he and Bryan Singer, who directed the first two X-Men movies, will just switch places - Singer produced XMFC - but Fox might bring in someone new.
DamndamnDAMN. I really loved Vaughn's style, that he allowed both Fassbender and McAvoy have their say in how Charles and Erik's relationship would be portrayed. I'm not sure if a new director will give them the same freedom - they are both deeply interested in keeping the characters' integrity which might clash with the new director's vision. Very disappointing news :(
Also, it looks like Wolverine will be set after X3.
