I read up on Lawless a bit more and now I'm actually tentatively looking forward to it? Despite my dislike of period pieces? Why? Because of Tom Hardy, of course.

Here's what the director said about him: source.

"I kept hearing about this incredible guy called Tom Hardy. I started watching his work, and I was awestruck… he was amazing," the filmmaker said, according to Flicks and Bits.

Hillcoat further explained: "I could also see Tom and Shia as brothers… Tom's approach was very much about the different emotional textures there were to [his character] Forrest and how distilled and controlled he was. It was a unique and fascinating attitude towards the character.

And this is what Tom Hardy said about his part: source.

"Forrest is a matriarch, he's a mother," Hardy told Total Film. "I don't think it's being macho, I don't think that's what masculinity is."

Sounds really good, doesn't it? I just hope Forrest doesn't kick it. That would miff me! So, I might not go and see it in the cinema but I might get it on DVD...

Oh, funny thing: Joseph Gordon-Levitt's starring with Michael Shannon in Premium Rush - and Tom Hardy and Michael Shannon were just cast together in The Long Red Road. For some reason, this 6 degrees stuff amuses me to no end. (Like when James McAvoy and Dominic Cooper were together in Starter for 10 and James then became Professor X and Dominic Howard Stark, Tony "Iron Man" Stark's father. LOL!)
