I didn't dislike Peggy per se, I disliked her position as the love interest. I couldn't help feeling like that's the only reason she was there.
I second the crossing of fingers! TVTropes says he reportedly signed a multi-movie contract, which I find very likely. The series is all about continuity, after all.
