Spoilers for Sherlock S3
May. 3rd, 2012 01:36 pmYahoo! posted a short article in which they talk to Mark Gatiss about Sherlock S3: link. Beware of slight spoilers regarding John's reaction to what Sherlock did in The Reichenbach Fall.
So, John will be mighty pissed at Sherlock. I suspected so. This John is not a blind follower. I think that John finds himself a girlfriend, maybe even Mary Morstan herself, and maybe they even move in together between S2 and S3.
Then Sherlock returns, thinking everything will go back to how it was, but John tells him to go and screw himself. He refuses to go back, he refuses to help Sherlock again, he refuses to have anything to do with him. During the course of 301, John mellows a bit - yet he still refuses to go back. He built a life for himself while Sherlock was gone and he won't abandon it.
In 302 they grow closer again and John has to learn to balance being with Sherlock and being with Mary.
In 303 John asks Mary to marry him, Sherlock is less than pleased, Mary is happy but wary. Sherlock and Mary reach an understanding - the ep ends with the wedding where something terrible happens. Either Mary dies or she tells John she can't live like that. Cue in John and Sherlock living together again in S4.
