Last season, Steven Thompson's script was the weakest. This season, it was the best!

I found it incredibly tragic that Mycroft, who always thought of himself as having superior intellect, caused everything that lead to Sherlock's "death". And he knows it too. He knows that he gave Moriarty everything he needed to destroy Sherlock. It's so incredibly sad. His whole life Mycroft did whatever he could to protect his little brother, even against his will, and in the end Mycroft's arrogance was the instrument of Sherlock's downfall. Can you imagine living with something like this?

John. I adored that he didn't waver. He believed in Sherlock no matter what and even after Sherlock's suicide, he was still convinced that Sherlock was innocent, that he lied in his "suicide note". John didn't know why but he was absolutely certain that Sherlock lied. It was also amazing that he figured out that it was Mycroft who unwittingly betrayed Sherlock.

I loved that Sherlock turned to Molly for help. Yes, he has always been cruel to her but then, he's cruel to everybody. It never means he doesn't trust those people. That scene where he asked her to help him die was fantastic!

And Lestrade, that he didn't let Donovan and Anderson convince him Sherlock was guilty, that he still believed Sherlock enough to warn him and to let him go.

Oh, I loved that John punched the commissioner. LOL! John might be tiny but he can pack a punch!

And Sherlock's death. Moriarty was so crazy that he didn't mind dying if it meant destroying Sherlock. Because he knew Sherlock would kill himself to protect John and the others. He just didn't count on Sherlock having a back-up plan. The scene where Sherlock stood on the roof and talked to John, when Sherlock's voice broke - which I don't think was played, he knew he wouldn't die but he knew he would hurt his best friend terribly! - when John realized that Sherlock planned to kill himself... John's reaction when they wouldn't let him get to the body. And with his psychiatrist. Sherlock knew he would hurt John with his "death" but I wonder if he realized just how deeply.

And the scene in the graveyard. I wonder if Sherlock followed John. I mean, he wouldn't be just standing around, lurking in a graveyard, would he now? When John told Sherlock's grave that he used to be so alone before he met Sherlock. And then when he asked for just one more miracle, for him, when he asked Sherlock not be dead... It broke my heart.

Wonderful stuff. I can't remember the last time something hit me this hard. I think... White Collar's Out of the Box, the S1 finale, when Peter realized Neal was leaving, the scene at the airport.

Luckily, Gatiss and Moffat said that S3 has been commissioned together with S2, they just didn't tell anyone to not spoil the suspense. Hopefully, we won't have to wait another 18 months for the next season. And I hope we will learn soon what stories they plan to use next. Empty House? Certainly, but in what way?
