Finally saw X-Men in the cinema!
Jun. 11th, 2011 09:33 pmAnd OMGOMGOMG! I'm floating on cloud nine right now, so hyped and drugged on the GOOD! I'm just... It's... I mean... Eeeeeeeeeeeep! Seriously. The best movie of this year, hands down (at least so far, that is!).
The chemistry between Charles and Erik was off. the. charts on the big screen. And by the end of the movie, my heart was so breaking for them, because they both represented an extreme. If they compromised and worked together, they would've been unstoppable. And the friendship they lost...
I think that by the end of the movie, Charles was worse off than Erik. Charles lost his positive outlook, having been betrayed; he lost Raven, his almost sister; he lost Erik, his best friend; he lost Moira; he lost the use of his legs; and you can bet that he and his school will be blamed for whatever Erik does in the future. Erik got his revenge - and lost Charles. I think the loss of his best friend will haunt him forever. I mean, Charles was the one person he actually allowed into his head and shared his memories with. And in whom will they confide now?
Loved the part where Erik covered Charles with his body when the plane crashed. And then slowly lowered them both down. Aww... Erik's protective streak, when it comes to Charles, is mile wide, seriously.
And I still wonder about the thing with the coin, about the fact that Charles felt it going through Shaw's head. He felt Shaw die. You could see him bracing himself for the agony - and yet, he didn't let Shaw go because if he did, Shaw would've killed Erik...
Erik's LOOK when the bullet hit Charles. His tears. Charles' tears.
And I wonder, did Charles keep his paralysis from them on purpose? He didn't tell Erik or Raven, he kept silent about it until they were gone. Was it intentional? On the part of the writers, I mean?
And then there were the funny bits: the strip club scene, Erik pushing Banshee off the ramp and Charles just LOOKING at him and Erik going all "Don't tell me you didn't want to do that too!"
Wonderful, wonderful, seriously. I'll be buying this movie on DVD ASAP!
This year's movies? I went to see three, so far, I think: Fast Five, Thor and X-Men. They were all 10 out of 10 material for me. But if I should rank them, it would be: 1. X-Men, 2. Thor, 3. Fast Five.
So, if you somehow missed my point, X-Men: First Class rulez!
