Zechs yawned as he stopped his car at the red light. After a day in the office he was so tired that he was ready to just hit the sack as soon as he closed the door of his apartment. But unfortunately, no luck. As soon as he started to take off his jacket, the phone rang. And if it hadn´t been Sally Po on the other side of the phone line, he would have simply hung up. But Sally was special. After his Sentinel died, she helped him a lot, she was the steady rock in the storm of scattered feelings and broken pathways for him so he couldn´t not help her now.
The light turned green. He shifted the gears and took off. From what he understood, she had a problem with a young Sentinel and a forced Bonding. The boy had to be really important to her if she turned to him personally and made sure that his boss assigned him to this case. He *was* a SSD officer but after his Sentinel died, they kept him mostly in the office. An empath stuffed full with drugs wasn´t very useful in the field. This thought forced him to look at the shining numbers of the clock on the dashboard. He would have to take another dose soon.
Another red light. He sighed and rested his hands limply on the steering wheel of his small car. He looked around the mostly empty streets. Even though the street lights were burning brightly, the streets themselves were relatively dark and thus not the safest place to be after dark. With a fond smile he remembered his Sentinel, Lucrezia... She didn´t want him on the streets alone in the night. She was always so concerned for him. But in the end it wasn´t him who died first...
Before he could shift the gears again, a movement on the sidewalk caught his attention. Frowning, he leaned forward and squinted to see what was going on in the dim light. There was a young man and... a couple of AUs? That didn´t look good. He hit a button on the dash board and the large blue sign of the SSD popped up on the hood of his car. He then pulled the vehicle to the side, fished his ID out of the pocket and stepped out.
The two white-skinned Androids with glowing red eyes turned to him, gripping the struggling boy´s arms tightly.
Zechs flashed his ID. "Zechs Marquise, SSD," he introduced himself knowing, that they would immediately run his identity through the main computer to which they were connected all the time. "What´s going on here?"
"We caught an Unregistered," answered the mechanical voice of one of the Androids.
Zechs shifted his eyes to the boy. No, to the young man. Taking a better look, he noticed that the Unregistered had to be well over twenty, but he was thin and his blond hair was unkempt. But even though he looked somehow haggard, he was rather handsome, with strong features and deep blue eyes that looked at him with a desperate plea.
"I didn´t do anything," the young man cried out. "I didn´t steal. I was just looking for my brother!" He tried to pull his arms out of the grip of the AUs but with no avail. The Androids didn´t move or even blink. There would be deep bruises staining the prisoner´s arms soon if he didn´t stop his ceaseless struggle.
Zechs sighed. If the man was truly an Unregistered, then he couldn´t do anything for him. The Androids had every right to arrest him for entering OZ. Before the sun would rise the man would be on his way to the mines. Such was the law... Zechs turned away from the desolated look the man gave him. He swallowed and clenched his hands in fists. He didn´t like it, actually he hated it and if it had been him who caught the Unregistered, he would have just let him go but in this situation...
He nodded grimly. "Do your job," he said quietly, then turned around deliberately and started to for his car. Even after the door shut him off from the outside world, he could still hear the screams of the prisoner as the AUs cuffed him and tightened the leash with the tracing microchip around his neck. Averting his eyes purposely, Zechs shifted the gears and took off.

Maybe if I post it bit by bit, I will actually finish it too! :D
