I didn't really get the plot, but I loved all the stuff with Nathan and Duke! I need to know what happened between them ASAP! \o/
Nathan wants to kill Duke - that's what he said - but he couldn't let him die! And he actually worried about him! I loved it when Duke said, "When you are nice to me, it reminds me that I'm dying." And then Nathan was all, "Well, hurry the hell up then!" XD But then he propped Duke up and let him lean against him.
My favorite scene? The last one, where Duke saw Nathan drive up to the restaurant and he went and opened the door with a smile. And Nathan stopped there and then just couldn't enter, so he turned around and left. Duke look positively heart-broken! It really does look like Duke did something and Nathan just can't forgive him. Nathan actually tries, but he just CAN'T.
You know, this is just a speculation, but Nathan said that Duke keeps taking from people, using them. Well, what if he took away Nathan's ability to feel pain? What if they used to be best friends. What if Nathan was hurt as a kid and Duke didn't know what to do and he just couldn't see him in so much pain, so he took it away, not just the pain but also the ability to feel it? And now Nathan blames him for that. He knows that Duke didn't do it on purpose, to hurt Nathan, but he just can't forgive him?
I also loved how creeped out Audrey was by Nathan's affection for the kids!
And the very last shot where the woman was chained to the lighthouse... Nice touch. And the song fit perfectly.
Man, I'm loving this show more and more with every ep!

Date: 2010-08-08 06:23 pm (UTC)Yeah, I didn't really get the plot (like, at all?), but I didn't really care because it was Nathan and Duke who completely stole the episode. I really agree that I think they were best friends because only a betrayal between best friends can cut that deep so many years later. I also agree that it was something Duke did that Nathan cannot ever forgive, which you really get from that last scene, where Nathan can't even talk with Duke at the end. (Oh, gods, how happy Duke looked and then how heartbroken, how Duke turned away, what a well-done scene!) But I disagree about Duke taking Nathan's ability to feel because I don't think Nathan wouldn't forgive him over that, especially if it were an accident. But what else it could be, I have no idea. I just really, really want to know!
