SPN anime!

I'm so excited for the Supernatural anime! I don't care who complains about what in this fandom, personally, I cannot wait for it! Man, I miss anime so much and this could give me the necessary kick to return to it! \o/

I got to ask about the anime at Otakon this weekend. One of the founders of Madhouse (Maruyama Masao) was at the con. I asked him how Madhouse got involved. (He said that Warner approached Madhouse about it.) He seemed very excited about the project.

I also told him that I saw the character designs, and I was very impressed. He was surprised I already saw them already. :-) He said they wanted to make the characters fit into anime style, but not change them too much. I think they've done a great job so far!

I'm excited that he's excited it! And WB approached them? Awesome! They must be really behind the project, right? It's really strange that the WB loves the show so much because it doesn't have all that spectacular ratings in the US. Maybe it's more popular throughout the world? From what I heard, SPN and SV sell best of all their shows.

I like the character design. I think that most fans who complain are people who don't usually watch anime. I on the other hand, love it!

WB used Madhouse for the Animatrix and Batman:Gotham knight, they were the only anime house that they used
so kudos there (although the bruce wayne in their short is the spitting image of Knight from Crashers, I kid you not)

my one issue with the character design is that dean looks a little like Vash the Stampede - which is because he is designed by the chap who did Vash the Stampede. I think it's the chin, just one of those things, yanno

as i understand it SPN is HUGE! in Japan (which makes sense considering how many of their shows/movies/anime/books/etc are based around the concept of the supernatural,) and lets face it two pretty boys - it's a sort of no brainer really why it's so popular - the doujinshi content alone is staggering (seriously I've seen more SPN doujin than for WK)
I don't think the rest of the world is meant to have more than a passing fancy with the anime, it's very insider aimed, yanno, Madhouse are doing the anime, not the same people who do like DragonBall, the character designer is from Trigun to make them more human looking - for the anime boffs among us it's a slam dunk but to the non anime buffs, it's like their aping the western style (although for madhouse they've turned the lights UP a bit- this is the studio who did all that lovely work for Clamp)

I'm just happy that there WILL be an anime. How many US series can say that they have had an anime made after them? *vbg* I'm trying not to be influnced by all the negativity going around, but it's hard. SPN fans sure know how to spoil fun *sigh* But I'm so looking forward to it! Like so MUCH! *bounces*

it's so hard going from the excitement and positivity surrounding anime to the negativity in spn, i mean we're likely to be intensely happy that koyasu got another job (as likely as the sun rising in the east, he's probably IN the spn anime, he's in everything else afterall) and they're NO!WEDONOTLIKECHANGE!
(some of them i think like the idea that the show is so dark because the WEDONOTLIKECHANGE! idea was also applied to lightbulbs)

it's a culture shock to say the least, they are warm and inviting at first but can be very negative to the concept of change (and songfics that aren't by taylor swift)
so of course I love writing in it xp

The big thing for me is if they get Jared and Jensen to do the voices. I can't think of anyone else in their characters, even animated.

Well, if it's available, I'll probably watch it the way I watch most anime - in Japanese with English sub-titles. I'm used to it that way :P
