... what I think of this NCIS:LA spoiler...

Eric Christian Olsen—who recurred on NCIS: LA last season as LAPD liaison Marty Deeks—has been promoted to a full-fledged series regular, CBS confirms.

“We are thrilled to have Eric join the cast,” said executive producer Shane Brennan in a statement. “He has already proved himself to be a great asset and invaluable member of the team, and Eric’s fans will be delighted to see what we have in store for him.” Link

Honestly? Aren't there enough characters as it is? I loved that after they dropped Dom, the stories got tighter with fewer characters. I think that the show would have benefited from dropping Nathan too, and they add another character? I think that Deeks was nice as a recurring character, but a regular? Not so sure.

I loved this show because it was different from NCIS, that it was more of a buddy cop show, mostly about Callen and Sam, that was what made the show special to me...

Yeah, I liked Deeks as well, but the cast is too big as it is (a reoccurring role would be fine)...and didn't they hire another female character last month? I do not like cast bloat, Eric and Nate are nothing more than posts as it is.

Yes, I heard of that two. That's two more characters, a regular and a recurring one to a cast that's already big enough. Was that really necessary? They barely use Nate and Eric as it is. And instead of tightening it up, they fracture it even further.

I don't mind Deeks, because he *makes sense*. Dom never did. OSP was no place for a probie.

I don't want to see him take any of Sam or G's airtime, but there a logic to having an LAPD liason that keeps me from getting growly about his presence. And I like Nate too. I don't mind a cast of thousands as long as each person has their own, logical, place in the line up.

I don't like series with big casts. There's never time enough to explore the characters thoroughly. We are one season in and except for Callen and Kensi, I don't know anything about these characters. And now they added one regular and one recurring. I think that the story telling should be tighter in this series, but with two more characters, I suspect that it'll be even more fractured. I hope I'm wrong but to be honest, by the end of the season, I was slowly losing interest. The show was at its peak when they got rid of Dom, the next few eps were great. Then they slipped back into average. And then they started splitting up Callen and Sam, pairing them up with Kensi and... Nya :(

Yeah, I'm not sure what this new chick is going to add to the series other than being 'another chick' because the lopsidedness was getting to be too realistic, if you look at jobs like this out of proportion for Hollywood.

But Deeks... meh. I kind of like him because he challenges Sam.

NCIS has steadily managed 7 main characters and, sure, I think we always feel that our favorites get short-shifted, but I think LA, if they try hard enough, can do it too.

I like Deeks, he can stick around! But, I still miss Dom :( IDG why he had to die or get kidnapped in the first place. SRSLY.

It's not that I minded Deeks. But the show already has too many characters that they barely use :(
