I was clicking through some Smallville S8 eps when I came across this scene between Clark and Tess:

Clark: You don't know anything about my life.
Tess: If this is the way that you lied to Lex then I can see how it pushed him over the edge.
Clark: Lex was racing toward that drop-off way before he met me.
Tess: Yeah but betrayal... you know, the more you love someone, the harder it is.

Did they seriously say that on the show? Like seriously? Did they even realize how that quote about betrayal and love could be taken? O.o

That's really how it seemed, that at least Lex had loved Clark. They were arguing about what Clark's lies did to Lex, how they influenced him, what they made him do and why and then BAM, this. I was like O.o
