Favorite ship: Hm, that depends...

Ship I want to see happen? Stiles/Lydia or "Stydia". It's also the only het ship I read, not just in this fandom but in general. There's just something... incredibly appealing about them. Because Lydia makes Stiles more mature and Stiles makes Lydia softer.

Ship I read? Stiles/Derek or "Sterek". But that's mostly because 9 fics out of 10 in this fandom are "Sterek" fics. So, I wouldn't call "Sterek" my favorite ship based on preference but out of necessity.

Ship I want to read? Stiles/Scott or "Sciles", both gen and slash. I really wish fanfic authors focused more their relationship because it's the cornerstone of the show yet it goes mostly unnoticed in fics, shoved aside in favor of "Sterek" sexing. And that's a shame, really.

But... if I should choose only one, out of these three? Then... "Stydia". Because it appeals to me on so many levels. Them as friends and as lovers. Because, seriously, Lydia would be the one "wearing pants" - so to speak - in their relationship, that's pretty much given. And that's another thing that appeals to me, a dominant woman...

Favorite cast member: Dylan O'Brien

I don't know much about him - I'm not fretfully checking his private life - the only thing I do know is that he's dating Britt Robertson, with whom he filmed The First Time. But that's pretty much it. I'm much more interested in his work than his private life. Because that boy? Can ACT - yes, the capital letters were needed. I got my hands on all of his movies so far - High Road, The First Time, Internship - and I really hope he'll manage to keep his head straight and make many more! I hope he doesn't leave TW till the show actually ends - and knowing that Jeff Davis is basically bending over backwards to keep him on the show*, I hope we don't have to worry - and I hope that his upcoming movies - The Maze Runner and Glimmer - are successful. Because he really does deserve success.

* Funny story: According to Tumblr, the reason why Stiles slept so much in this episode? Dylan was needed back on the set of The Maze Runner again and TW wanted to give him the time needed. Pretty much what happened in 312, isn't it?

Favorite teacher: Coach Finstock!

There aren't many teachers who aren't dead or evil and dead at Beacon High, but out of those still in the realm of the living, Coach Finstock is my favorite. I mean, how can you not love a guy who would like to be called Cupcake and who drives a car with a license plate CUPCAKE1? And I just adore his hilarious antagonism with Stiles - hilarious and sweet because, despite all the trouble Stiles tends to cause to the coach, Finstock likes the kid a lot, he said so himself! (Compare that to Harris' intense dislike/boarderline hatred towards Stiles!) Also, a teacher with the "foot in mouth" syndrome? Awesome!

Favorite parent: Melissa McCall!

Melissa is simply amazing. A kick-ass single mom who can handle anything life throws at her, even her son becoming a werewolf. She's smart and strong and caring and funny and she's always, always there not just for her son but for his friends too, she's like a surrogate mother to them, both Isaac and Stiles. And Melissa Ponzio is so gorgeous it hurts *_*

Favorite Jackson moment:

In 301, when Lydia told us that Jackson was gone, gone, GONE to London, never to come back. Good riddance! Sorry, I would be hard-pressed to find one positive thing about this character. I did a merry dance and I gave a loud HUZZAH when it was announced that Colton Haynes was leaving the show. So there.

Favorite Isaac moment:

The one in S2, where he and Erika were walking down the school hall, full of new-found confidence, dressed all in black leather and with Isaac scratching the lockers with his claws. It was such a change for them, and especially for Isaac, after years and years of being terrified of his father, he walked tall and proud and unafraid, for the very first time in his life. That was glorious!

Favorite Lydia moment:

The one in Stiles bedroom in 315. When she asked him if she got him into trouble because she was wrong with her prediction. I loved it because Lydia is usually very sharp, even venomous in her way of expression, she's very acerbic and even abrasive. There are very few moments when we see her this... mellow, subdued and soft. And this was beautiful.

Favorite Derek moment:

This will sound cruel but the scene where Kali stabbed him with a pipe in... 304? And then kept him impaled on it throughout the episode while Deucalion talked to him. I'm not a sadist, Tyler Hoechlin just did an amazing job in that scene. I mean, seriously, he spent the whole episode on his hands and knees, pretending to be in excruciating pain. And I really and truly believed it. It was amazingly well played!

Favorite Allison moment:

Pretty much every one where she is kicking ass and taking names. But if I should pick just one... then the one in 305, when she had to sew up Scott's wounds. With a simple needle and a thread, on the floor of a dirty roadside washroom. I loved that she was so nervous, that she had tears in her eyes and her hands were shaking but she knew it had to be done so she did it. Not even her own shot nerves could stop her from helping Scott. And that's why Allison's so awesome - when she isn't buckets o' crazy, that is.

Favorite Stiles moment:

Too many to count. But my favorite Stiles scenes are those with his dad. Like the two really touching ones in 313, Stiles waking from his nightmare and the "You alright?" one. Brilliant. But funny stuff? Definitely...

Sheriff: Please tell me I'm gonna hear good news at this parent/teacher thing tonight.
Stiles: Depends on how you define "good news."
Sheriff: I define it as you getting straight A's with no behavioral issues.
Stiles: You might wanna rethink that definition.
Sheriff: 'Nuff said.

Or...

Stiles: You know how many vehicle collisions last year involved deer?
Sheriff: Oh, God, please go to school.
Stiles: But that's crossing the road. This one last night came right down the middle.
Sheriff: I'm not gonna beg you.
Stiles: Okay, good. I'm impervious to your influence anyway.
Sheriff: Would you consider a bribe?
Stiles: You couldn't meet my price.
Sheriff: Extortion?
Stiles: You got nothing on me.
Sheriff: Yeah.
Stiles: Dad, what are you doing? Dad, what are you doing? Aah!

LOL! These two...

Favorite Scott moment:

The one in the class room in 314, when Scott realizes that Stiles' perception went haywire. The incredible kindness with which he asks, "Stiles, are you okay?" and the gentleness with which he takes him away, then the way he helps Stiles get back his sense of reality, counting fingers with him to prove that it's real, that Stiles is not dreaming. Beautiful. Seeing scenes like that makes me realize that Scott will be an awesome Alpha - once he gets the hang of it - because he cares very, very deeply about his pack.

Something you wish hadn't happened:

I wish they hadn't taken Derek's Alpha status away from him - especially without giving him back a power of equal meassure, as in allowing him to shift fully, into a real wolf. I mean, I know that he gave up his power to save his sister, and good for him, he has lost enough people already, but now... It feels like he just keeps losing stuff and I really wish it was somehow balanced: you lose a power, you get a new one.

Something you wish had happened but didn't:

I wish they had made Stiles the druid Emissary of Scott's back. Or at least the druid apprentice of Deaton's. I wish Deaton had started teaching Stiles how to do magic after Stiles had proven he could do it, the bit with the mountain ash. I know that a lot of people love human!Stiles but I would prefer if he were somehow magical. That's why I'm so fascinated by his current storyline!

Favorite wolf: Scott McCall

I admit I didn't like much, how they wrote Scott in the first two seasons or so. He made some really dumb decisions. But this season? This season, he's been simply amazing. The way he cares about Stiles, the way he's with Kira, his love for his mother and his antagonism towards his absent father... Lovely.

Least Favorite Female Character: Victoria Argent

Crazy person, beware! A shrill, annoying, creepy, unsympathetic and unlikable psycho! Ick! What nutjob commits suicide rather than become a werewolf? Being a were's not the end of the world, for cryin' out loud. But no, she would rather rob her daughter of a mother and than man up and deal with stuff. What a bitch!

Least Favorite Male Character: Jackson Whitmore

I hated him so very, very much. Rich boy with issues. Boohoo, you were adopted by a loving couple who gave you everything, including their unending love, my heart bleeds for you. Not. What a dick! I did a happy jiggle when I heard Colton Haynes was leaving the show. It's now so, so much better than when he and his dumb issues were a part of the show, oftentimes taking the center stage.

My favorite quote about him?

And seriously, an American werewolf in London? Like that's not going to be a disaster.

Favorite Female Character: Lydia Martin

Lydia... Lydia made the greatest progress, from a pretty thing on Jackson's arm she turned into a strong and smart young woman who now refuses to hide her skills, who doesn't mind she's sitting with the "weird kids" at school, who - of her volition - participates in their shenanigans. And it's beautiful!

Favorite Male Character: Stiles Stilinski

Gosh, I love the guy so much. He's sarcastic and sweet and funny and loyal and smart and brave and just as broken as everyone else in their little pack. And he loves his father very, very much. Also, he's really, really gorgeous. I mean, have you seen his eye-lashes?

Book Meme

A book meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] book_memes!

What’s the first book you remember really loving?

Jules Verne's "Two Years Holiday" - this was a real experience for me, I still remember how I fell in love with Briant and how I rooted for his blossoming friendship with Doniphan. Amazing!

Name three authors who feature strongly in your reading history...

Alexander Dumas (I read everything I could get my hands on!), Robert Van Gulik (ditto!) and David Morrell (until he started to take himself way too seriously and his books stopped being entertaining, that is :-/).

What’s the very next book you’re going to pick off your TBR pile?

Larry Millett's pastiche "Sherlock Holmes and the Ice Palace Murders"

What’s the very next book you’re thinking of buying/borrowing?

Borrowing: the continuation of Simon R. Green's "Secret Histories"

Buying: Josh Lanyon's latest "Holmes and Moriarity" book, "The Boy with the Painful Tattoo"

What’s the last book you read? What did you think?

The "No. 6" manga, vol. 3. And WOW, just WOW! I wish there were more mangas like that!

Lately, I've been feeling a bit... off. Not at all inspired to watch anything or even update my LJ/DW or Tumblr properly. I think it all started when Paul Walker died. His death still seems completely impossible, inconceivable to me. It feels like it stole all my fannish feelings and since then, I just... wallow. I hate it.

So, next year... what to do next year...? More memes and challenges, I think. 75 books to read on GoodReads. I've managed 73 so far this year, with one audiobook 1/3 through and still a week to go. I can manage 75 before the year's end. And I would like to reduce my manga "to-read" shelf by half, at least. I would also like to return more books to my boss, some of them I've been holding hostage since 2009!!! What else?

Another "30 movies in 30 days" challenge. It really helped me make a dent into the piles of movies on/under/inside my table. You can't even imagine just how many movies I actually own, you really can't. And... probably something along the lines of a "3x30" challenge, 3 episodes of... something every day. I have so many shows downloaded that I actually had to buy a new external HDD today, Verbatim 1TB! Not to mention all the DVDs! This challenge will help me sort the mess out. My OCD will not allow anything else.

Oh, speaking of books - my next translation? Oliver Bowden's new Assassin's Creed book, "Black Flag". I hate books about ships. Naval terminology and me? No buddies.

And... that's it. They are threatening us with another windstorm in the next 2 days, up to 90kph here and just here, where I live. Figures. I hate windy weather. But what can you do? *sigh*
