The slash is strong in this one!

Holmes/Watson = House/Wilson. Like really. Down to the "You're sabotaging my relationship to keep me to yourself!" speech :P I wonder if the House writers gave these writers some pointers.

I really liked how Holmes tried again and again to pull Watson in, to pique his interest. Well, Watson didn't fight him too much on that, did he?

My favorite part? Holmes sneaking into the hospital to see how Watson was doing. Yes, he wanted Watson to stay and work with him but he didn't want him to get hurt! That was quite touching.

Or the "Watson, what have you done?" in the docks, when the ship slipped down the dock and sank!

I actually liked Mary. She was strong without being demanding or bitchy, she didn't want Watson to stop working with Holmes because she knew that Watson loved these adventures. The "I know that you care about him as much as I do" speech she gave Holmes in the hospital was quite awesome!

The movie itself was really funny! Holmes shooting the gun in his room, drugging their dog, "hanging" himself... Watson all exasperated.

I loved Holmes kicking butt!

The best special effects? The glass blade with which Blackwood almost stabbed Watson. And the flying wheel that almost smacked Holmes - hadn't Watson dropped him.

And the music was excellent! It fit the film perfectly.

Oh yes, and there was some plot, too. Obviously ;)

After watching this movie, I don't think I'll be able to imagine anyone else but Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as Holmes and Watson respectively.

BTW, does anybody know if there will be a novelization of this movie?

Yes, yes it is!!! The only way it could have been slashier was if they'd actually snogged. And a couple of times I thought it was a close thing. (I included a quote by RDJ in my SH comments in which Guy Ritchie at one point gave them kudos for managing a performance that approached heterosexual. *g*)

I don't watch House, but I read somewhere at [livejournal.com profile] holmeswatson09 that House/Wilson was based on Holmes/Watson.

how Holmes tried again and again to pull Watson in, to pique his interest.

So fabulous! Holmes was so clearly jealous of Mary and trying desperately to keep Watson with him. The fortune teller made me LOL!

I don't know about a novelization, but there is a ton of fanfic. *g*

Actually, it's the other way around: the creators of House based House on Holmes and James Wilson on John Watson (the latter whom, coincidentally, is accidentally called "James" at one point). So, House is Holmes but with medicine instead of criminals. (And I definitely had some moments in the movie where I was like, "Wait, House, what?"

On a similar note, there's an interest on the internet for Hugh Laurie to play Moriarty in the next movie. I'm in full agreement. Thoughts?

I really like Mary, actually. Apparently, she was supposed to tell Holmes that Watson has enough room in his heart for both of them, to paraphrase. :D Similarly, I also really liked Irene Adler, despite how different she is from her portrayal in her story. They're both strong, independent women (in their own rights: Irene is obvious, but Mary also in the little things like throwing wine at an insult and not waiting to be rescued by Watson).

I love the soundtrack! It just sucks you right in from the get-go. <3

So far, there's no word on a novelization. Alas. Although I'm not sure the novelization could do the movie justice.

Sherlock Holmes! Yay! :D

Yup, I know that House=Holmes and Wilson=Watson. But when you watch to Holmes and Watson in this movie, you literally see House and Wilson in the show, Holmes' attention grabbing, marriage/engagement destroying tendencies included. Just remember House's behavior when Wilson got together with Amber. Even the banter was very House-like :P

I loved, loved the scene in the hospital, the fact that Holmes snuck in despite having the cops on him. He just had to make sure that Watson was okay. Aww!!! I need to find some slash fics!

ETA: AFAIK, Moriarty will be played by Brad Pitt. Cinemaspy reported that.

I adored the hospital scene, the take on Watson unconscious and Holmes checking on him, his swagger gone! That was... aww! I need to find some fics! I'll be perusing your LJ once more.

And yup, House and Wilson are based on Holmes and Watson, but this, Holmes doing his best to undermine Watson's relationship, it's so HOUSE! He did the very same thing when Wilson was dating amber and even one of Wilson's ex-wives told House that her marriage to Wilson broke because of him.

I liked Irene. That was good casting. What fell flat for me and had such potential was the character of Irene Adler.

I loved Holmes leaning on Watson to use his telescope and then getting right up close to him to whisper in his ear :-)!

Yeah, I was never into Holmes when he was portrayed that stupid hat on his head. I like him much more when he's kicking major butt!

I liked Mary a lot. Irene wasn't bad per se - actually, I liked her more than I expected - but for me, this was a Holmes/Watson movie through and through X)

The scene in the hospital was just perfect. So much love. And I thought the Brad-Pitt-as-Moriarty thing was just a rumour? If not, bummer. I can't really see him as Moriarty. Very sad.
