This ep was so good! And we found out just how layered Patrick Jane's personality actually is...

* Wow, I can't believe that they actually went there - after the murder of his wife and daughter, Patrick had a mental breakdown and was locked up in a mental facility. Wow. They actually went there. The scene where he told Lisbon was awesome. Both Robin Tuney and Simon Baker were just great there!
* Cho's interrogation of the animal freak was too funny for words - hence my icon!
* I loved that they acknowledged that what Patrick does, the way he gets the perps to confess isn't really by the book and it complicates the life of their boss immensely.
* The relationship between Patrick and his psychiatrist was quite fascinating. He was so gentle, both times he said goodbye to her...

And did you see the ratings?
NCIS: 19.86 mil., 3.9/11 demo (series high in viewers!)
The Mentalist: 19.33 mil., 4.2/10 demo (series high in viewers!)

CBS' spin on that? "CBS posted its largest Tuesday audience (with regularly scheduled programming) since 1995 as NCIS reached another series best viewer delivery, THE MENTALIST soared past all of its previous series best ratings..."

I love this show! I think they've done a really good job with the characters, although I'm waiting and hoping they'll add more dimensions to Lisbon other than "straight-man" to Patrick. I adore Cho -- his straight-faced humor and hardass attitude! :)

I'm sure they will. I mean, they already hinted at her father being a drunk, at her basically raising her brothers, at her tending to stay from her family... I like the fact that in every ep, we learn something, even if it's a tiny bit.

The scene where Patrick told Lisbon that he was in a mental institute... Wow. That was really powerful.
