I have a new resolution, which is to stay the hell away from GateWorld. Whenever I see Martin Gero's smirking face on the main page, I feel like pummeling someone to the ground *hisses*

And since I'm talking about resolutions - I wanted to read 50 books this year and review them for GoodReads. Now? Just last night, I finished book 111 of this year! *twirls* And what was it? Naomi Novik's "Throne of Jade". And now I'm reading Simon R. Green's "Drinking Midnight Wine". I really need to return that book to my friend, you see? It's been sitting on my window-sill since last year! *hangs head in shame*

Oh GO YOU! That's outstanding! And it's not even halfway through December at this point.

Lovely. Btw, I'm curious to know what you think of Drinking Midnight Wine. I haven't read it, and have no plans (at this point) to read it, but I love his Nightside series.

I'd been trying to make 105 this year, but at 91, I think I might have gotten derailed....

I like the Nightside series too. I'm not totally in love with it, not really invested in the characters but it's a cute little thing :) I had no plans to read this one either but this friend of mine that lent me the Nightside series put this one on the pile too. He also plans to make me read the Hawk and Fisher series by Greene XD

I planned to read 50 books this year so the fact that I doubled the digit makes me quite happy 8)

That's an interesting observation, about the characters in Nightside. You know, I'm not invested in them either, with the possible exception of the secretary, who, sadly, appears to have been relegated to a bit part and has disappeared entirely from the later books.

I'm super-invested in the Nightside itself, though, as a place. The whole concept fascinates me.

To me it feels like Greene is just scrapping the surface, he doesn't make us really feel for the characters. Though I was quite happy when the Lillith arc ended.

Oh god yes. That whole storyline got old after awhile. I'm really curious as to how everyone's going to move forwards from there, in this new sort of free-for-all Nightside.

Have you read Unnatural Inquirer, the new one?

Also, I am being sucked into GoodReads, and it is all your fault.

Nope, the last book that I read was "Hell to Pay", I think...
